Sir,

With reference to your Telegrams of the 2nd ultimo and 293, I have the honour to inform you that I have selected Miss Helen Batchelor and Miss Eliza Maker of the London Hospital, for appointment as nursing Sisters in the Hong Kong Civil Hospital, Department at Downing Street, 4 June 1898.

The Crown Agents will be desired to provide for their passage to the Colony by the intermediate P. and O. Steamers leaving on the 11th and 25th, and to obtain the usual agreements with them for signing on arrival.

You will be good enough to give them formal letters of appointment when they arrive in the Colony, stating that you appoint them on the conditions embodied in the copy of the enclosed letter from this Department.
